Every piece on the board has a unique way of moving. Check off the ones you know.

Pawn; Moves foward 1 space and attacks 1 space ahead, diagonally. Allowed to move 2 spaces when first moved. If the piece ends up next to another pawn after moving two spaces, the enemy pawn can move to the space behind it and capturing it. This is called en passant,

Knight: Moves 2 spaces vertically and one square horizontally, or vice versa, making a "L" shape. Captures pieces that is landed on. Can jump over pieces.

Bishop: Moves and captures diagonally and captures if there is line of sight.

Rook: Moves and captures horizontally and vertically if there is line of sight.

Queen: Moves in any direction if there is line of sight.

King: Moves and captures 1 space in any direction if there is line of sight.
